Step by step through the winter wonderland
The times, when winter hiking was side-lined are definitely history. In the category “off-piste” winter hiking and snowshoeing have long since become a menu item. Rightly so.
Our tip: Combine winter hiking with tobogganing. This makes for an outdoor programme that thrills the young and old.
Altogether 49.5 kilometres of cleared and sign-posted winter hiking trails along the Ötzaler Ache river and to several pastures can be found in the area around Sölden. They invite to enjoy long walks, but also demanding tours stretching over quite few metres of altitude gain. Whatever you fancy.
Snowshoeing had become quite popular and trendy – and this even among a broad public. Did you know that the local snow sports schools offer guides that accompany you on your snowshoe hike? This way you will get to your destination safely. The appropriate equipment is also available on site.
Tobogganing is a real classic among the winter activities. A racy tobogganing session is a must for every holiday – romantic with your partner or with your whole family or your best friends. Tobogganing can be enjoyed on three toboggan runs in Sölden (Stallwiesalm, mid-station and Gaislachalm/Silbertal) as well as on two further runs in Vent and Hochgurgl.
The newly built, floodlit toboggan run in Sölden leads from the mid-station of the Gaislachkoglbahn lift to Sölden.
